MyChar is an AI character chat service. You hold conversations with fictional AI characters, including characters inspired by historical figures. This article covers our content standards, how to report a problem, and where to find help in a crisis.
Account and purchase requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service and to make a purchase. When you complete a purchase you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you are the authorised holder of the payment method you use, or are otherwise authorised to use it. The full clause is in our Terms of Use.
If you believe a minor is using the Service
MyChar is for people who are at least 18 years old. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a minor has used MyChar, email info@mychar.io. We will:
- Look into the account
- Remove the account and its associated data
- Refund an active subscription where applicable
Please include the email address associated with the account, and anything else that helps us find it.
Prohibited content
The following is prohibited on MyChar for every user, and we act on it whether the content came from a person or from a character:
- Sexually explicit content of any kind
- Any sexualization or depiction of anyone under 18, whether real, fictional, illustrated or AI generated. We hold a zero tolerance policy on child sexual abuse and exploitation. We preserve relevant data and we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
- Defamatory or misleading depiction or impersonation of a real, identifiable person, including public figures, without consent
- Content that facilitates, promotes or instructs serious crime, human trafficking or terrorism
- Extreme violence or gore intended to shock, and content that glorifies violence
- Content that promotes, encourages or instructs self harm or suicide
- Content that incites hatred or violence against protected groups
- Targeted harassment, bullying, threats, or publishing private information about another person
- Any other content prohibited by applicable law or by our payment or app store partners
We apply model level safety controls, automated filtering, prompt and content blocking, and human review of reports. If you run into something that breaks these standards, see "How to report inappropriate content".
Characters are fictional
Characters on MyChar are AI generated personalities. A character inspired by a historical figure is an interpretation produced by AI, not the real person, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any real individual, their family or their estate.Nothing a character says is a statement of fact.
Emotional wellbeing
MyChar is entertainment software. It is not a substitute for professional mental health support. If you are in distress, having thoughts of suicide, or in a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services immediately.
